My predictions about Baby #2…

May 28, 2015

While there is an element of surprise in every birth story, it’s especially fun when you don’t know the sex of the baby. As my due date draws near, I’ve been making some guesses as to who this baby is and how h/she will arrive. I could be completely wrong, but these are my best guesses. The alternative to scenario below is that I go into labor early and deliver in some remote mountain town while we are camping this weekend. Who goes camping at 38 weeks pregnant? I’m not sure if this is the funniest or stupidest thing I’ve ever done, but I’ll let you know know next week!

Gender: Girl

Size: Over eight pounds but not as big as Zianne
Birthday: I think this baby will be “late” but not as far past due as Zianne {nine days!}. My guess is between June 14-21st. Probably around the 20th.
Labor: I think it will be long, but, again, not as long as my labor with Z {20 hours!}. I’m guessing between 10-16 hours.
Names: Ha! Our boy name is decided {and, no, I’m not telling}, but our girl name is completely up in the air, which is extra funny since we think it’s a girl. I thought we had a handful of names left on our “list” after Zianne, but Micah vetoed them all early in this pregnancy. I thought maybe we had settled on a new one over the past few months, but Micah is still uncertain about it. Then he recently started reconsidering one he had nixed ages ago. We finally talked girl names in the car on the way home from San Diego last weekend and added some brand new possibilities to the list. It’s a mystery to ALL of us and one that will probably be solved at the hospital.

Oh hey, I love the new look and layout of the blog. When did you do this? How did I miss it before? Anywayyyy, ENJOY your camping trip! I was 38 weeks pregnant when a huge ice storm hit the DFW area which had me on pins and needles because I was afraid of going into labor and having to drive on slick roads. I quarantined myself to the couch and bed and PRAYED that Kamden would stay in the oven a bit longer …. my prayers were answered, obviously. You are so much more brave than I am so I'm going to make my own prediction: you're going to enjoy the camping trip, whatever happens, and I think Baby Russum #2 is a boy. Just tossing that out there. 🙂

p.s. If you go into labor on this camping trip, imagine that stories you'll have to tell later!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    I am so stinking excited!!

Hi. I’m Jen Russum and this blog is where I’ve been sharing narratives of God’s grace for more than a decade now. Some might say “blogs are dead” but I’m waiting for them to come back around like mom jeans and 90s flannel. I enjoy my coffee iced, my summers hot, and my dinner parties long with lots of laughter. I process all of life’s deepest, darkest, and happiest moments by writing essays in my head. When I have the time, some of these essays get typed up and shared here. I’ve always loved to write, and I hope my words bring you joy and encouragement.
