Lovely little things…

February 20, 2012

I kinda sorta had an easy week last week. Isn’t that strange? If you have ever been in grad school, you know that easy is NOT supposed to happen. But for some reason, I had a random and unexpected “no new reading” day in each of my classes. So weird. Usually, my schedule looks a little like this…
But now I am back to reading a ton and I have student papers coming in that need to be graded and life is as busy ever.
But I enjoyed the short segment of rest and calm while it lasted! Oh, and the house cleaner came, which made my life even better {I think Micah and I have finally compromised on having her come every other month for a deep cleaning – hoorah!}. Here are some of my favorite moments from the most restful mid-semester week ever…
I never get tired of Arizona winter mornings // Finally got to bust out the Girl Scout cookies!

Note in Micah’s lunch on Valentine’s Day // The dessert Micah brought home that night

V-day dinner at home // My love

Our phones have names {used by me, of course; Micah would not name his technology} // My favorite type of morning

I took a moment this week to praise God that I no longer live in Seattle // My watch from slister!

Real Marriage Conference {so good} // The best drink

Shopping with Micah // Trying to wear boots as much as I can in these final weeks of winter
xoxo,
Jen

Boo ya grandma!!! First comment once again. First off…I love you. Secondly…I cracked up that Micah would not name his phone…but Sirius Black sounds like a superhero phone name. 🙂 I am glad you are not in Seattle too…or I would not get to see you two days in a row! 🙂

Hahaha! Love your phone's names! So great. 🙂 I actually have a weird desire to live in seattle… I've wanted to for a long time and I've never even visited.

I can completely relate about having an easy week in grad school. Teaching full time and being in grad school has definitely been one of the hardest things for me, and there is always something to do! I love your color coded calendar!!! So glad you are wearing your boots as much as you can-I'm trying to soak up the last little bit of it too!

I loved this post. So cute!
I am pretty sure I will now be naming my phone, as well as my boyfriends, from here on out. 😉
    Have a wonderful week!

Hi. I’m Jen Russum and this blog is where I’ve been sharing narratives of God’s grace for more than a decade now. Some might say “blogs are dead” but I’m waiting for them to come back around like mom jeans and 90s flannel. I enjoy my coffee iced, my summers hot, and my dinner parties long with lots of laughter. I process all of life’s deepest, darkest, and happiest moments by writing essays in my head. When I have the time, some of these essays get typed up and shared here. I’ve always loved to write, and I hope my words bring you joy and encouragement.
