Eight seaters…

February 9, 2012

Right now our family has a small kitchen table. We bought it last year right after we got married and we love it. It’s dark wood with comfy padded leather chairs. It’s perfect for our small family of two {three when sister-roommate is home} or when Micah and I have another couple over for dinner.
However, one day, we will outgrow this table. It’s already a little too small if we have more than four people over. Thankfully our new house has a huge bar around the counter with stools, so we can seat six more people there, but someday it will be time for a new table.
I really like big tables that are not rectangular in shape. Square and round tables seem much more conducive to conversation. I love big square or round tables that seat eight people comfortably. I also don’t really like formal dining rooms, and I think a square or round table works perfectly for more of a great room set up, like I hope to have someday.
So here are some of my favorite table inspirations. I’ll call them eight-seaters…

Is #3 bar height? Not real practical for little kids, since you're thinking about your family's future and all 🙂

I completely agree that round or square tables are more conducive to conversation. I love the first and fourth ones especially.

Mmmmm– I LOVE big round tables! We don't have a formal dining room, but hopefully in our next house we do and I definitely want a big 'family' table like these!

I adore the PB Round. If our dining room wasn't so big I would have gone for round, but it just called for a longer table. Have fun making your dream list! It has been our favorite purchase, and makes us more "excited" to have family dinner together on it. (Rather than on our laps watching TV which I hate doing, but….)

Love your picks! Not sure if I'd go w/ square or round, but the 3rd Urban Home and Pottery Barn ones are my faves!
I would love a new dining room table. My husband wants to build one, and probably will someday, we just have too many home renovations to do first 🙂

I love that big round one, second to last! We have a teeny tiny tall table with 2 barstools. We found it at biglots 7 years ago. Haha. One day I'd love to have a really really long table with a bench on one side and chairs on the others (for all the kids we plan to have 🙂

We sort of inherited my MIL's HUGE 10 seater table… It has those leaves you can insert in… But it's a soft wood that gets dings in it constantly and not my style… These you shared here are very similar to the styles I like as well! 🙂

Hi. I’m Jen Russum and this blog is where I’ve been sharing narratives of God’s grace for more than a decade now. Some might say “blogs are dead” but I’m waiting for them to come back around like mom jeans and 90s flannel. I enjoy my coffee iced, my summers hot, and my dinner parties long with lots of laughter. I process all of life’s deepest, darkest, and happiest moments by writing essays in my head. When I have the time, some of these essays get typed up and shared here. I’ve always loved to write, and I hope my words bring you joy and encouragement.
